UPDATE: UPD Release Name Of Person Killed In Accident In Utica

On November 20, 2021 at approximately 3:50AM Utica Police and Utica Fire units were dispatched to Sherman Dr at the Parkway relative to a serious motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival the units located a vehicle that was traveling northbound on the Parkway just prior to Sherman Dr with extensive damage. They located one occupant of the vehicle who was quickly transported to St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center for treatment. This male’s injuries are not considered life threatening at this time.

They were then directed to a second occupant who was located nearby outside of the vehicle. This individual was pronounced deceased on scene.

The Utica Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is currently on scene conducting the investigation. The Parkway at Sherman Dr will be closed for the next several hours as they reconstruct the accident scene.

The investigation into the cause and additional factors is on-going as well, and updates will be issued as available. The name of the decedent will not be released until next of kin have been notified.
