Canastota man charged with arson following fire in Sylvan Beach

Friday, March 26th, police and fire crews were called to a home in Sylvan Beach for a house fire. The fire was called "suspicious" after witnesses say there was a man in a pickup truck fleeing the house shortly before the fire.

The suspect was arrested on Saturday and identified as 38-year-old Nathan A. Riley.

Riley is accused of pouring gas from a gas can around the house, then lighting the gas. He's being charged with second-degree arson, and is currently being held at the Oneida County Correctional Facility.
