A Herkimer man is facing charges after he allegedly abused three girls under the age of 13. 35-year-old Matthew Carpenter was arrested Monday, following a grand jury indictment on the following charges:
First-degree rape
First-degree sexual abuse, second-degree
Unlawful imprisonment, two counts
Forcible touching two counts
Endangering the welfare of a child three counts
Herkimer police say the arrest is a result of a complaint was filed last year regarding one of the young girls who was allegedly abused by Carpenter. The investigation revealed two more victims. Carpenter was arraigned and is being held at Herkimer County correctional facility in lieu of $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond.
