Man Arrested After Bringing Gun To North Utica Walmart




On October 26, 2021 at approximately 9:50PM Utica Police units were dispatched to Walmart in North Utica regarding a male in possibly in possession of a handgun. Customers had notified store staff that a male was acting in a suspicious manner and had what appeared to a handgun in his waistband. Store staff acted swiftly and contacted 911.


Officers arrived within moments and located the male outside in the parking lot. As some officers were speaking with the male, others began a canvas of the immediate area and located a discarded BB gun under a storage container.


Additionally, the officers were informed that the male had discarded a book bag within the store. They then went and located the bag and immediately noticed that it was partially open and the handle of a sawed off shotgun could be evidently seen within. The officers secured both the bag and weapon and upon inspecting it, noticed that the gun had been modified to an illegal length of less than 26 inches. Furthermore they located shotgun ammunition inside the bag.




The male was then transported to headquarters and at the conclusion of the investigation, Ryan Doliver age 28 of Utica was charged with:

The Utica Police Departments commends the customers within Walmart for immediately notifying staff, and also the quick and immediate actions of Walmart staff in keeping their store safe.
