MVHS expected to lose staff at the latest vaccination deadline

The Mohawk Valley Health System is expected to lose up to 150 employees following the latest expiration deadline for religious exemptions for the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

The religious exemptions for not getting the vaccine end at midnight on Tuesday and the MVHS is preparing to lose a significant amount of the work force at the deadline. Employees must have a verified document proving that they have received the first dose of a covid vaccine, or proof of a valid medical exemption by midnight Tuesday or they will be placed on unpaid leave and will face termination.

Certain services provided could be limited due to high volumes of patients and staffing shortages.

Governor Kathy Hochul says the state is prepared to assist where any staffing shortages stemming from the mandate may occur.
