Oneonta officials consider mask ordinance after COVID-19 outbreak
Oneonta officials are considering a new mask ordinance after an outbreak at SUNY. The proposal is very similar to the one already required by the New York Health Department.
No vote was taken on the proposal, however it will be considered at the next council meeting.
5th ward councilman Len Carson questions the proposal, asking the necessity of Oneonta enacting their own mandate. He asks "If this passes, who’s going to enforce it and how? Are there going to be people taking pictures, or are police officers going to have to physically see people not wearing a mask?"
