Police Stop In Utica Leads To Weapons Charges



***PRESS RELEASE***


On January 5th, 2021 at approximately 11:00PM GIVE units conducted a motor vehicle stop on the 1600 block of Brinckerhoff Ave. During the course of the stop, it was learned that the driver, Joshua Butler age 35 of Utica, had outstanding warrants with the Utica Police Department.


As Butler was being arrested for these warrants, it was learned that a loaded .40 caliber handgun was secreted under the driver seat.


This weapon was immediately removed and secured by the officers.

At the conclusion of the investigation Butler was charged with the following:


NYSV&TL Violations

Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd

Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd

Criminal Possession of a Firearm

Outstanding Warrant charges
