PRESS RELEASE - 18-year-old arrested, facing illegal weapon charges
On September 11th, 2021 at approximately 7:45PM members with the Crime Prevention Unit attempted to conduct a stop of a male on a bicycle on the 1400 block of Miller St. Upon exiting their vehicles the male fled down a driveway and through backyards.
After the pursuit the officers were able to detain the male on West St. Upon returning to the location of pursuit they located the male’s bicycle as well as a loaded .45 caliber handgun. Following the investigation, Kaivon Hamell age 18 of Utica was charged with the following: Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Criminal Possession of a Firearm Obstruction of Governmental Administration NYSV&TL violations
