PRESS RELEASE - Weapons seized from parolee during traffic stop


On August 16th, 2021 Utica Police Patrol units assisted New York State Parole officers with a stop in the Oneida Square area relative to a man with a handgun.

The Parole Officers were in the Oneida Square area when they received information regarding an individual on Parole supervision who was in possession of a handgun.


Upon conducting a vehicle stop of vehicle in question, they noticed that Parolee was seated in the front passenger seat.


As he exited the vehicle the officers noticed a loaded handgun wedged between the passenger seat and the center console.


This male, Todd Thompson age 30, was then detained and brought to the Utica Police Department.


Once there he was charged by the Utica Police Department with the following:


Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Criminal Possession of a Firearm

Additional charges are likely to be levied by Parole and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office for related offenses.
