Rome Man Arrested In Connection With New Hartford Robbery

On June 18th 2019, the New Hartford Police Department arrested Marquise Howard, age 22, from Rome NY for Robbery in the First Degree, a Class B Felony. This followed a four month investigation. On February 15th 2019, it was reported to the New Hartford Police Department that a male victim met with two individuals in the Hannaford parking lot in Washington Mills to make a purchase of a PlayStation gaming console. The transaction was orchestrated through an electronic classified site called Letgo. The parties agreed to meet in the parking lot of Hannaford’s to complete the transaction. The victim walked up to a car occupied by two subjects and while talking with the two occupants of the vehicle the victim held cash in his hand. Howard was seated in the passenger seat of this vehicle. At some point Howard grabbed the cash from the hand of the victim while at the same time the driver sped away. As the vehicle sped away the victim was dragged by the vehicle until he was ejected. The victim suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized for several days. Howard was processed at the New Hartford Police Department and arraigned in the Town of New Hartford Court. At the completion of Howard’s arraignment, he was remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail. Howard is scheduled to return to the Town of New Hartford Court at a later date. At this time the police investigation is still ongoing, and there are other arrests pending.
