Syracuse detective dead after being exposed to carbon monoxide

A 36-year-old Syracuse detective named William LaShomb died in his home 3 weeks after he was exposed to carbon monoxide on the Eerie Canal.

LaShomb was found on a docked boat along the Eerie Canal alongside a woman, 34-year-old Blair Dodge, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the carbon monoxide to either be from the boat's engine, or a portable space heater. There is an ongoing investigation, however authorities believe the incident to be an accident.
