Syracuse Man facing several charges after biting a Trooper and refusing to leave friend's apartment

State Police arrested Noah A. Rivers, age 24 from Syracuse, NY for Assault 2nd degree, a class “D” felony; Criminal Trespass  2nd degree, a class “A” misdemeanor; and Resisting Arrest, a class “A” misdemeanor.

On December 3, 2019, at approximately 1:00 a.m., State Police responded to 121 Roxboro Circle Apartment 2 in the town of Salina for a disturbed person complaint.

When Troopers arrived,  they met with the complainant outside of the apartment who stated he was concerned about his friend Noah Rivers who showed up at his residence acting strange and he wanted him to leave.  Troopers advised Rivers that the resident wanted him to leave or he would be arrested.  Mr. Rivers refused to leave and was then placed under arrest.  Rivers began to physically resist and was subsequently placed into custody. While Troopers were assisting Rivers into the rear passenger side of the patrol car, Rivers became combative and aggressively bit the Trooper on his upper leg, causing substantial pain and bleeding.  The Trooper was treated and released.

Rivers was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital for a medical evaluation before being arraigned at the Onondaga County Justice Center for centralized arraignment.

State Police were assisted at the scene by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.
