Tuesday afternoon, a man scaled the Utica Tower to it’s peak, and stayed at the top while Utica police and fire departments from both Utica and Syracuse tried to get him down. This is the second time man climbed the 125 foot tower this month.
Police told local media early Wednesday morning that the man was safely off of the tower. They say police will not release his name, and he was sent to a hospital to evaluate his mental health. They also say the first time he climbed the tower he was charged with a crime, but for a previous incident.
The man’s motive for climbing the tower is unknown at this time.
