Vernon parents arrested and charged for child endangerment

A couple in Vernon, 23-year-old Nicolas M. Evans and 20-year-old Alexia S. Davis were charged after their 3-month-old child died on November 25th.

According to local media, the couple called the police the morning they noticed the baby was unresponsive, and when authorities arrived, the infant was pronounced dead at the scene.

Child Protective Services investigated and determined the cause of death to be an unsafe co-sleeping position. The parents also admitted to using drugs and failing to actively monitor the baby.

Police determined the couple could not be held directly responsible for the infant's death, and both parents were released with appearance tickets, and are scheduled to reappear in court on the 10th of February.
